Ok, I admit it. The Republican's kicked some Democrat ass last night. However, considering only 40% of American's bothered to vote yesterday AND several races were won by a margin of 1% or less, I most certainly would not call it a bloodbath or landslide. I mean, even in the worst case scenario's like Idaho or Oklahoma one still has to remember that a MAJORITY of American's were so disgusted with politics in general they didn't even bother to voice an opinion. Think about that, Mr. Boner! More than HALF of American feels our government is SO fucked up and pointless that they stayed home and watched "Dancing With The Stars" instead of voting.
So, on this day of reckoning I have a few thoughts for the victors.
1) It's one thing to stick to your principles, but when you disagree with your OWN opinions (I.E. health care) just to make sure the other side fails...who really wins?
2) When you make statements like, "We will not compromise" or "Our only job is to make sure Obama is a one term President" how do you expect to get anything positive done? Unless, of course, your whole plan from the beginning was to do nothing at all.
3) How does one oppose affordable health care, tax breaks for 98% of the working Americans, AND stimulating the economy to create jobs??? Because, contrary to what you may hear on the "fair and balanced" news outlets....that is EXACTLY what Obama accomplished in the last two years.
True, the health care bill is big and there were a LOT of compromises made to get it passed. So fucking what? It is certainly better than the previous administration's idea of compassionate conservatism. And, yes, the economy is still in the shitter and unemployment is still at 10%. However, not to blame anyone...but the economy tanked BEFORE Obama took office and most of that was due to shady real estate practices and several years of unfettered, unregulated Wall Street greed. Finally, I have to say that as much as many folks would like to deny it...the ONLY reason many voters, TV pundits and several elected officials are so vehemently opposed to President Obama's ideas IS SIMPLY BECAUSE HE IS A BLACK MAN.
Sorry, folks but racism is STILL alive and well in America and for that I am ashamed. So, the next time a politician points to the Middle East, Korea, Russia, or China in an attempt to show how wonderfully moral and intellectually superior our free-market, capitalistic system is....I'd suggest taking a good, hard look in the mirror and ask: Is this what Jesus would do...... OR...... would he kick you in the balls and call you a bully? That's my two cents.
